Booking a Musical Act
Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a music agency?

No. I'm a professional musician managing, rehearsing and playing in my own groups or as a solo artist. I operate under the name of 'Piano Plus'.

How much do you charge?

Ah, the 1 million dollar question. It depends on how long you want us to play for, where the event is, whether it is a weekend or weekday and if there are any repertoir requests.

Our prices are competitive. Here are some guidelines:

  • Solo Piano: from £200
  • Violin and Piano: from £325
  • Jazz Trio: from £475
  • Organist: from £150

What about charity events?

Part of the joy of music is being able to play for good causes. Piano Plus are always willing to adjust its fee to play for charity events. Best thing to do is to email me and we can discuss the possibilities!

Do you have your own P.A. system / Electronic Keyboards

Oh yes, life is so much easier when familiar and reliable equipment is used. We have a good quality and reliable P.A. system, 2 speakers, quality electronic keyboards, microphones and pick ups. This would be adequate at most venues.

Can we listen to you live?

Certainly! This is something we do encourage, although it is not always possible at private functions. There is usually a venue we play at open to the public. This is often a good opportunity to have a face-to-face consultation.

Do you use a booking contract?

On the whole, yes. This is so that both parties know what to expect and so that 'what would happen if' scenarios are easily dealt with. Nothing fancy - just straight forward things like:

  • Agreed fee and whether the band gets fed & watered (a good meal is surprisingly important to groups!)
  • What would happen in the event of cancellation
  • Performance times, setting up times, etc.
  • How long does it take you to set up?

What are your payment terms?

Once we have verbally agreed to perform at your event, we'll send you a booking contract in duplicate, which also serves as an invoice. One copy of the booking contract should be signed and returned to us with a non-refundable deposit cheque of 20% of the total booking fee. The balance of payment should be made in full at least 14 days before your event.

What if we need to cancel?

We operate the following cancellation policy:

  • Cancel within 90 days of event - 20% of total booking fee
  • Cancel within 30 days of event - 40% of total booking fee
  • Cancel within 14 days of event - 50% of total booking fee
  • Cancel within 7 days of event - 60% of total booking fee

Are you insured?

Yes. I am a member of the Musician's Union and therefore covered by public liability insurance.
